Tamron announced the SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD (Model A007), the world’s first1 full-size high-speed standard zoom lens equipped with VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization and USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) [2], with resolution at the top of its class, will be available starting April 26, 2012 in Canon mount with Nikon mount following. Delivery of the Sony mount version has not been released.

Nikon filed a patent application for a redesigned 24-70mm f/3.5-4.5 full frame lens. Nikon’s last attempt at making their Budget Mid-range Zoom was the 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 G AF-S in 2002 and previous 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5D was in 1991.


These High Quality Compacts are great performers, lightweight and fairly inexpensive. But one can only think this will be a kit lens possibly for the Nikon D3200 or other future releases. The patent contains several different variations of the Lens listed below.
